I do not understand the resistance to a hand count. Either it will prove there were no anomalies, as the incumbents claim, or someone tried to negate the voice of the People. Either way, everyone should want to know the truth of the matter.

What exactly is the hold up to a hand recount? Wouldn't the DNC, or the state party, sure for one?

Janet Wilson's avatar

As I understand it there is no easy path to recounts. The losing candidate is the one who must request one and may bear the costs as well.

Non-partisan spot recounts should be done at random on all elections. Especially these days, when faith in election integrity is falling.

That seems like an excellent and sensible idea. There is too much of a "black box" element with electronic voting machines, because there is no simple way to verify that my choice is being accurately recorded. The machine's instructions are hidden in lines of computer code that no one can read! Human verified spot tests are necessary to ensure integrity.

I am not a fan of electronic voting machines. Too easy to rig.

Thank you for all your hard work. I have been sharing your url and trying to get the word out that the results of the 2024 election were not compatible with reality in the swing states.

Thank you Lulu it does get old when a lot of them hang up, and some people don’t want to tell you who they voted for. I’m proud to say I voted for Harris. I don’t have problem telling people. Keep us informed. And keep that leg up

So sorry about your leg. You seem the type of person who always likes to keep busy, but I know from experience if you're going to break your leg, it's better to do it in the winter rather than the summer. Being stuck in the house when the weather is nice isn't fun.

Your team has worked so hard and we're all very grateful. I just hope the Democratic Party recognizes the hours you've spent fighting on their behalf. Maybe one day they'll come out of their hiding places and show their appreciation. It's the least they could do.

Thank you for your hard work. Smart Elections will need a LOT more than $500,000 to protect the midterms. Trump & co. cannot and WILL NOT allow a blue Congress.

Isn't this reported experience of WIDESPREAD hostility, rudeness, "difficulty remembering" (!!!), and hanging up quite odd such that it raises some questions of its own? If the "null hypothesis" is that these people voted for Trump (the winning candidate and the candidate purportedly recommended by their rabbi), why would so many of them be THIS uncomfortable about the topic (unless perhaps most of them strongly regret their votes for Trump)? The discomfort would make more sense for people who didn't vote at all, or voted for the losing candidate (Harris), but still not to this extent. So what does it seem like is really going here? IF (hypothetically) there was indeed something incorrect about the results of the zero Harris districts, then isn't it quite possible that some of those behind it likely "beat us to the punch" so to speak, which might explain the widespread odd behavior reported here?

My sense is that the discomfort in speaking is more discomfort with speaking to anyone outside of this very tight knit community about anything. But especially about something political.

Rockland County has a whole other set of conflicts between the Hasidic and non-Hasidic community that we haven't discussed much regarding the school system.

And it could just be general discomfort talking with people who are clearly not members of the Hasidic community.

But it's hard to know.

That's why a hand count would help

I’m grateful for your persistence and sorry about your leg. Is there a way to send a letter out to these precincts with the lawsuit info and start with the important title “if you voted for Kamala Harris is the 2024 election your voice was not heard”. Is that legal and are there resources? It would be more private and I know most of us are more likely to pay attention to mail.

^^^ This! Exactly what I'm thinking. There must be a better way to get people talking than cold calling on the phone. I've done *plenty* of phone canvassing, and no one likes those calls. Reaching out by mail, or placing an ad in a local paper or circular, or even setting up a table with info near a store might be more effective.

That said, ETA must harbor their resources carefully. Lawsuits are expensive, and Lulu said this information is tangential to theirs. It would be good if they found something supportive of their claim, but it's not critical for their argument. So I guess it becomes a decision of how much to spend chasing this tail?

Most MAGA on social media would shout they voted for T and would continue to defend T. I imagine these communities share some fear acknowledging their candidate given the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Were any of the zero Harris districts/precincts actually traditionally Dem?

Expand full comment
SMART Elections's avatar

They're not traditionally one way or the other. The understanding is that they vote "en bloc," meaning as a unit in sync with their rabbi's instructions. It is not uncommon for them to split their ticket between parties.

There is reliable information that the conformity is not 100%, but there is no way to know without a hand count.

Well, we have a Qatari airbase in Idaho, we are staying in Venezuela for the foreseable future. What do you think China & Russia are going to do. Let us confiscate the rest of the world??? They are building a bunker under the White House & a ball room to celebrate it in. We have very ignorant men in charge with very flawed egos.  Hospital Administrator is cheating, quick we need one of those clinics with a Bloaty Head machine and a qualified operator.  Don’t panic, Everyone Download the app on your phone now while we still can.

“The art of the deal”

*cultural references:(A humorous 1997 business simulation game by Bullfrog Productions where players design and manage a hospital that treats comical, fictional illnesses like "Bloaty Head". To cure Bloaty Head in Theme Hospital, build an Inflation Room with an Inflator machine, have a doctor use it to pop the patient's oversized head, then reinflate it to normal size using a bicycle pump-like device. This room is often one of the first you'll need.  In the tragic movie, “Full Metal Jacket”, there is a scene depicting a prostitute propositioning a client that mirrors Trump’s deal making skills.  The drill sergeant’s character is a dead ringer for Trump’s management style as well.)
